The Date to the Dance

You're in language arts reading your book. You glance up from your book, and all you see is Jacob (your crush) looking at you. You quickly look back at your book. The bell rings and you pop out of your chair and get your things ready to go to lunch. You are walking to the door, and Jacob is standing in the doorway. The first thing that pops in your head is the dance this Friday. He slips a piece of paper in your binder, which you are holding in your arms. Opening the sticky note, you read it, and it says meet me in the gym by the bleachers. You quickly head to your locker to put your things away. You slowly walk to the gym where he is waiting. As you are walking to the gym your friend, Vanessa, grabs you by the arm and takes you to the girl's locker room.

"Please help me. I need you to help me. I need help on a math test," Vanessa whines.

"Ok, I can't help you right now," I say.

        "Why?" Vanessa asks.

 Pulling out the note, you explained what happened.

         "Ok," Vanessa says as she was pushing you out of the locker room into the gym.

You see Jacob sitting on the bleachers. You walk over to him.

        "Hi," Jacob say.

"Hi. What did you want to talk to me about?" I asks.

"Umm, I was wondering if you would like to go to the dance with me?"

"Ya, I would like to go to the dance with you."

" But I, don't know enough about you yet." You say.

        "Yes you do." Jacob says .

         "No, I really don't." You says argument-ably.

         "I will tell you a little bit about me. I am from Texas.  My mom and dad are divorced , and I live with my mom. Is that enough." Jacob says

         "No, that is not what I mean. I don't know if I want to go to the dance with you." You say.

         "Why not? You are the only person I like and the only person I will like." Jacob says.

         "I know I am great and all, but Austin already asked me. I just don't know who to go with." You say confused.

Right as you stop talking the bell rings and you see all of your friends standing at the door, and all of his friends standing at the other door.

         "I have to go to class. I will think about who I will go with ." You says.

         "Okay, did you answer Austin yet?" Jacob asks.

         "No, I have not, but I will think about it tonight and answer your question tomorrow." You say.
          
         "Ok, see you later." Jacob says.
As you walk to your friends, you hear your name come on the intercom.
        
         "Rose Smith please come to the front office." says the office.
You walk to the front office.

         "Hi Rose. You are leaving for a doctor's appointment. Your mom is on her way." she says.
        
         "Ok thanks." You say.
          
         "You can go get your stuff and you can sit while you wait for your mom."

You walk to your locker and get your things. You walk to the front office and sit in one of the chairs.

Another day passes by.
          
         "Hi, so I thought long and hard about if I wanted to go to the dance with you. My answer is no. I am sorry Austin, but Jacob asked me too, and I just don't want to go with you." You say.
       
         "Well that is ok. I don't what to go with you either. It was a dare."
       
         "Well... Ok... bye?" You say
You walk up to Jacob and tell him what happened with Austin.

It is the day of the dance. You go to school and it is a normal day. After school is out, you get in Vanessa's mom's car and go to her house to get ready for the dance.

You wear a neon pink dress with black lace trim. Vanessa's mom dropped you two off at the front door. You go in and there you see Jacob standing at the entrance wearing black slacks with a lose white shirt. You walk up to him and tap him on his shoulder.
       
         "Hello," you says.
     
         "Hi, you look nice," Jacob say.
       
         "You do too," you says.

You and Vanessa walk to your friends, while Jacob walks to his friends.
       
         "Hi," says Vanessa.
       
         "Hi, you look nice," you say.
       
         "You do too," Vanessa say.

You dance with your friends for a while, and then you go dance with Jacob. As you hear your favorite song come on, you see Austin walk by you and Jacob.
       
         "Oh, I see you are dancing with your boyfriend," Austin says rudely.
       
         "He is not my boyfriend! I am just going to the dance with him."
       
         "Well... I was thinking about that and I was wondering if you would like to be my girlfriend?"
You look at him for a while then answer, " Ya, I would love too."

You look back at Austin and he is gone.

 After the dance you switch numbers, say that you will talk later then you see your mom's car and walk to your car. As you drive home, you text with Jacob. You date for about two months. Then he broke up with you because you were better off as friends than boyfriend and girlfriend. After the school year was over you find out that Vanessa was dating Chase, Jacob's friend, and that they have been dating since before the dance which was three months ago.
